Team Anga NaakMusiQ scores R1 MILLION treasure Singer Anga NaakMusiQ and his partner Bongani (insert surname) have been announced as the winners of the sizzling seventh season of Tropika Island of Treasure (TIOT). The pair became one million rand richer after 12 weeks of grit, fierce competition amongst larger-than-life personalities and an outpouring of support from millions of viewers every week. After eleven episodes of physical and mental exertion, exhaustion and eliminations, the season finale was anyone’s game. Winning the competition required teams to use everything they had learned throughout the season – including making the most out of their bounty advantages – and remaining both physically and mentally strong – all traits that Anga NaakMusiQ and Bongani consistently displayed throughout the season. “The experience was insane for both Bongs and I! Living da smoooth life in Mauritius Thando Hlope sipped his way to the top and confidently took his place in the sun as the winner of the 2014 Tropika Island of Treasure reality show that was held in sunny Mauritius. Hosted by the confident Pearl Thusi, the reality show saw a season packed with drama, excitement and fun as South African contestants were able to live da smoooth life and compete on an exotic, tropical island for a cash prize of R1 million. A student who studies full-time and still finds time to work, winner Thando is on top of the world after this life-changing experience that landed him 1 million big ones. “My mom was my greatest inspiration to enter the competition,” Thando says as he flashes his biggest smile. Thando claims his greatest strategy in winning was to remain confident and stay as smoooth as Mango Peach – one of his favourite Tropika flavours. There will be no big spending yet, as this young, ambitious chap is focused on finishing his studies first. Well done Thando!

Once again celebrities and everyday South Africans leapt at the chance of winning R1 million and getting their jive on with Tropika, on one of the most magical islands on earth – sunny Jamaica. The seven savvy and ready-to-rock celebrities included hiphop artists AKA and Da L.E.S, urban pop artist Mario Ogle, actresses Jay Anstey, Pearl Thusi, Phuti Khomo and the late model Reeva Steenkamp. They were joined by seven contestants from all corners of the country: electronic data interface developer Anver Klasse, aspiring actor Duan Wanty, client relationships manager Amy Arulappan, retail sales consultant and student Katleho Molai, merchandise manager for Khuli Chana Kefentse Moagi, executive secretary Mbali Ngaleka, and real estate and media studies graduate Sinethemba Buthelezi. These 14 contestants lived it up on the beautiful, vibey island of Jamaica and were fortunate enough to live the dream while having a stab at the grand prize of R1 million. That’s how all our entrants, including both celebrities and everyday contestants, felt as they held thumbs in hopes of being chosen as 1 of the 14 smoooth contestants for the Tropika Island of Treasure Season 4. The seven celebrities included the likes of Tracy McGregor and Joelle Kayembe, club and radio personality DJ Zinhle, hiphop artist Slikour, 5FM DJ Poppy Ntshongwana, presenter Phila Mazibuko, and comedian Tshepo Mogale. They were joined by seven contestants from all over SA: aspiring musician Nolan Jonathan, nursery school teacher Stacey Swanepoel, project administrator Roxana Swanlow, self-employed Ajive Suknandan, production manager Lucinda Human, clerk Kgabo Mpati from Thembisa, and financial consultant Ross Jordaan. Phuket and the adventure of a lifetime. Based on the success of the past two years, Tropika Island of Treasure Season 3 called for an unforgettable journey of fame and fun. Tropika welcomed seven celebrities and seven fans to compete in season 3 for the grand prize of R1 million. The exotic island of Phuket played host to this year’s show with the number of contestants dropping from 20 to 14 – allowing viewers the opportunity to really get to know their favourite contestants. Each day, teams participated in a range of exciting, whacky, random and fun-filled challenges under the hot Thai sun. At the end of each day, the winner was granted the power of sending a contestant home. An excited and enthusiastic group who were eager to get their game on and do whatever it took to get their hands on the million. Hosted by DJ Fresh and Natalie Becker, the 10 fan and celebrity teams jetted off to the heavenly island to compete in various challenges and activities. Tropika, the smooothest taste under da sun, selected 10 fans to pair up with 10 SA celebs for the smooothest reality show yet… The Tropika Island of Treasure challenge. This exciting first season took place on the island paradise of Mauritius where celebrities, together with their selected fans, participated in teams of two in super cool events such as the Amazing Race Style Challenge. The lively bunch of celebs included infamous Idols star Gift Gwe, Rhythm City actress and songstress Pam Andrews, champion surfer and sports model Roxy Louw, R&B singer Loyiso Bala, vocalists Kelly Khumalo and Nadine, and comedians Kagiso Lediga and Joey Rasdien, as well as Heino Schmitt, better known as Altus de Bruyn on 7de Laan. In order to compete with celebs in the competition, fans needed to purchase their most loved Tropika flavour and select the SA star they’d like to compete with. They could enter by SMS’ing their favourite celeb’s name, their name, age and cellphone number to 34115. Winners and celebrities were flown to Mauritius in the last week of May and spent a week enjoying Mauritian-style hospitality at the Tamassa Hotel.
